This is particularly suitable for extruders with counter-rotating screws, but it also provides benefits for the co-rotating twin-screw extruder. It promotes the dispersion of fibres or mineral fillers added to the material and, therefore, improves the mechanical properties of the finished product.

The new system is adapted to the size of the extruder and the length of the screws used. Within certain limits, the new system can also be applied to existing screws, but with necessarily limited advantages.

In some cases, increased mixing can also be achieved in conjunction with changes to the cylinder.

The system used to increase mixing works optimally in conjunction with the new adaptive temperature control system and the application of energy-saving concepts in extrusion.

The function of the modified screws to increase mixing can be represented graphically with a diagram. Increasing the mixing capacity also increases the productivity of the extruder.
